Browse Without Annoying Cookie Permissions

Cookies are an essential part of the online browsing experience. This is what most websites use to remember information about your online activities. I don’t care about cookies is a browser extension offered by Daniel Kladnik that allows users to browse online without being notified about cookies by removing the annoying pop-ups asking for permission to install. 

Purposes

Although cookies are not inherently malicious, they can be used by hackers to get sensitive data from users. Because of this, third-party cookies became a privacy concern in 2011, especially in the European Union, causing them to take action and requiring websites to ask for permission before installing any cookies. While this action against cookies is admirable, the pop-ups asking for permission can be a bit annoying for users. For example, if you are using incognito or private browsing modes that automatically deletes cookies after closing the browser, you will be asked to install cookies every time you access a certain website. This is where the I don’t care about cookies extension comes into play. The add-on removes all of the notifications about cookies from websites carrying tracking cookies. This allows users to browse online without annoying pop-ups. Not only that, if you happen to encounter a website that still asks for permission, users can report websites in order to improve the add-on’s database and prevent any slip-ups in the future. It should be noted, however, that the add-on does not remove cookies or prevent them from being installed. It only removes the notifications for them. As such, users who do care about cookies being installed on their system should be wary about installing this add-on. That said, since most users just end up allowing websites to install cookies anyway, using the I don’t care about cookies extension just makes the process so much easier, although it doesn’t give users better or worse access control.
