A Canabalt-style movie tie-in
Hunger Games: Girl on Fire is a movie tie-in game on iOS.
Hunger Games: Girl on Fire was developed by the team that created Canabalt. Hunger Games: Girl on Fire has almost the same gameplay, requiring you to run the main character, Katniss, through the woods home.
While it is still a linear, distance-based game, you do not get points by running as far as you can. Points are gained by defeating enemies and surviving. The goal of Hunger Games: Girl on Fire is manipulating Katniss through the levels shooting her bow-and-arrow.
Levels have two tiers. There is an upper and lower level that you can access by swiping up or down. You use this to avoid projectiles. Katniss runs in the middle of the screen, so you do not control the speed that she runs, but the further you progress, Hunger Games: Girl on Fire speeds up the action.
Visually, Hunger Games: Girl on Fire successfully recreates a 16-bit game. It contains a certain charm looking aged, but at the same time runs with a great frame-rate and no problems dropping frames.
Hunger Games: Girl on Fire is just a teaser for the movie, but the game is a fun diversion.
