HN – Hacker News Reader: A Reliable and User-Friendly App for Reading Hacker News
HN – Hacker News Reader is an Android application that offers a reliable and user-friendly way to read Hacker News. Developed by Manuel Maly, this free app is also open-source and has a focus on design and usability.
One of the upcoming features of the app is the ability to post comments. Currently, the app allows users to view Hacker News stories and comments, which are beautifully laid out. Users can also view articles in ViewText, Google, or their system browser, which they can set as default. The app enables users to upvote stories and comments by long-pressing on them, and to collapse and expand comments by tapping on them. Users can choose from three text sizes and switch between stories and comments with one tap. The app also enables users to view “more” stories than only the HN frontpage and to share the article’s URL to their installed apps, such as Instapaper, Pocket, and Twitter. Lastly, users can see which articles they have already visited.
Overall, HN – Hacker News Reader is a reliable and user-friendly app that offers an excellent way to read Hacker News. Users can report any issues to the developer via Twitter (@manuelmaly) or via mail. The source code of the app is also available on GitHub.
