Protect the princesses in Has-Been Heroes
Has-Been Heroes is an action strategy game with some roguelike elements. In it, you command a party of fantasy heroes whose best days are behind them on a mission to protect a pair of young princesses on their way to school. The trip won’t be easy, though, with swarms of monsters blocking the way.
The skills to make the kills
Has-Been Heroes operates on a lane-based structure, with hordes of foes coming at you in lanes. Your three heroes need to defend the lanes using a combination of spells, items and heroic abilities. Managing the combinations and cooldowns of your different abilities is the key to victory, and its complexities will take some time to master. As you proceed through the game, you’ll gain loot as well as the ability to unlock new heroes to add to your party. The roguelike element manifests in the random nature of loot and spells, as well as the possibility of permanent death. The maps on which your battles take place are also randomly generated, with features like merchants and treasure chests that can reward you with new equipment. Graphics are cute and cartoony, reminiscent of the iconic unrealism of games like Plants vs Zombies.
