Launched in 2015, this utility software offers a cashless option for high schools and fans who want to purchase tickets ahead of time. As with Huddle, this app caters to more than 10,000 schools coast to coast. It also sells tickets to a wide range of events, from performing arts to sports events.
What is GoFan?
With GoFan, you don’t need to wait in line for long hours to buy tickets for a school event. You don’t even need cash. You only need your phone and credit card to support your school. To buy a ticket using the app, you only need to search for your school or state association. From there, you can find the event you would like to attend. Once you find the event, you can choose the seats you want and checkout. The checkout process only needs a few taps to complete.
You don’t need to print the ticket you purchased for the day of the event. You only need to present the ticket sent into your GoFan account. But you can print them if you want a physical one. Note, however, that there are events that are mobile-only—meaning you will need to present tickets on a smartphone for entry into the event. The app also allows users to share their tickets with family and friends via text and email.
However, while the app offers convenience, there are a few issues that can be a deal-breaker. For one, the app requires the users to enter their credit card information every time they purchase a ticket. It is also sometimes hard to find your school and its events from the catalog. More so, the tickets sometimes take ages to load. Users are advised to have them ready before going to an event. But the biggest downer about the app is that tickets bought using the app are hard to refund in case of event cancellation.
Unreliable and untrustworthy
At first glance, GoFan seemed to be a convenient way for students, families, and fans to get tickets for school events. By allowing them to purchase tickets using the app, users won’t have to wait in line and even go out of the house. However, as it is now, various usability issues prevent you from getting into an event with tickets bought through the app. Worse, it is very hard to get a refund.
