Hidden Norse Tales
God of War | Mimir’s Vision is the official game application created by PlayStation Mobile Inc. The companion application is used alongside with the main PS4 game God of War. It provides in-game lore and map for players who are further engrossed with the Norse mythology.
Kratos’s Wisecracking Companion
For those uninitiated with the game, it is wise to play it first before downloading this companion application because it could contain heavy spoilers. But for those who have made half-way of the main console game, players can utilize this companion application for getting to know more about the new world that Kratos and his son Atreus have ventured out. Mímir is one of the figures in Norse Mythology. He is recognized for his vast knowledge about the Nine Realms and his wisdom during his previous journeys as a free being. In the game’s plot, his freedom was cut short after Odin imprisons him for befriending the menacing Frost Giants. During the main plot, Kratos and Atreus encounter Mimir and decided to free him from his eternal imprisonment. They beheaded him but reanimated him with Old Magic at the Witch of the Wood’s hut. Mimir provided the father and son tandem with crucial information about the world and the impending doom by the hands of the tyrant gods. He also serves as the second eye for navigating in the game and warning incoming attacks.
Mobile Companion for God of War
God of War | Mimir’s Vision utilizes AR technology from the ARCore feature of any devices with Android 7.0 (Nougat) OS and above. Players have to agree first about the application’s license agreement before fully using it. This application allows players to fully immerse with the mysterious lands of Midgard. Mimir will narrate legends regarding Norse Mythology. Players can perform various types of pressing to read several backstories. The application supports map locking, tapping and zooming. This is very ideal for Norse mythology fans, as well as for those having minimal knowledge about Midgard and its mythological denizens. The only downside of this companion application is that its contents are highly dependent on the main God of War game. It has no mini-games or collectibles whatsoever, meaning it cannot stand independently.
