Frontier Content Restoration – UI Icons and CK2
Frontier Content Restoration is a user-made content restorer for the game New Vegas, made by an anonymous user zed. This mod restores the missing txt icons used by the Courier in the game. These icons are located in two places: on the Pip-boy and on the item tool-bar. If you have ever wondered what the difference between the said icon and other icons are, here is a quick explanation. The Courier uses these two to display items that you’ve found while exploring a place, and it is up to you which one you use, using the left one if you prefer to highlight the item you found and leave all the other ones empty.
To use this restorer, all you have to do is go into the game’s folder (C: Program Files\steam\steamappssteamapps\common\fallout new Vegas) and open My Documents. You will see folders that are related to Frontier Courier Overhaul, and inside you will find two folders: graphics and textures. Open up the graphics folder, and you will see two folders: graphics_frontier_ui and textures. Which one you will choose will depend upon the way you like to play the game. When you have chosen one, just click on stockpiled icon in the game’s stash inventory to display a list of all the UI icons used by the Courier throughout the game. You will also see two sub-folders in there: critters and melee.
This restore tool does more than just display the missing Courier icon, though. It fixes broken subtitles, minimizes unusable words, fixes broken melee sounds, adds missing portraits and even replaces some of the voiceovers (which, to be honest, are pretty boring). For example, the trader character’s dialogue does not say his name properly anymore, nor does the doctor character’s dialogue. Also, you can now buy/sell items in third-person. It’s not perfect, so if you want it to be, you will need to use the CK2 console to change these values yourself.
