A simple, free standalone photo editor
When it comes to working with images, most of us are fine with a simple image editor to the most basic tasks in photo editing, retouching and enhancement.
This is the case of Fotografix, a tiny yet powerful photo retouching tool that hardly takes 700 Kb of your hard drive and doesn’t even require installation: you can run it from a USB drive if you want.
Fotografix is obviously no Photoshop replacement, but still, it works great for all those small photo editing tasks the average user needs to accomplish on a daily basis.
If you’re used to working with Photoshop, you’ll miss certain features such as more filters and special effects, having an onscreen ruler, or being able to use the same keyboard shortcuts.
On the upside, Fotografix does feature support for layers, works with a wide range of image formats and supports the use of scripts to automate frequent tasks.
It also includes interesting tools not usually found in other similar image editors, like multi-shape marquees, eyedropper, cloning stamp, gradients and magic wand, among others.
