Hotwheels return to Forza Horizon
Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels Expansion is a game utility application from Playground Games. As the name implies, this app is an expansion for Forza Horizon 5. It brings some of the well-loved Hot Wheels features to the popular car racing franchise.
Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels Expansion is the second crossover between Hot Wheels and Forza Horizon. With this, players should expect the same thrilling gameplay as Forza Horizon 3: Hot Wheels. Furthermore, there will be new track types and a much larger map. However, since it is a DLC, it requires Forza Horizon 5.
What can you expect from this add-on?
Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels Expansion is the first DLC expansion for Forza Horizon 5. It also marks the return of Hot Wheels to the franchise. In this expansion, the orange highways in which players will race are strewn across the sky over Mexico. The map is also larger than the previous Hot Wheels DLC for Forza Horizon 3. Moreover, it will feature three biomes with different weather conditions.
More than a larger map, the plastic pieces of the raceways are more varied. Magnetic strips will suck you on the track, while others are laden with thick ice. There will also be some parts with giant overhead fans, which give you a speed boost. However, unlike other Forza Horizon games, you cannot achieve anything you want in any direction. You will increase your ranks by collecting medals.
Added to the standard racing event is a new five-part, story-driven campaign centered around a Volkswagen Beetle. It tells the origin of the Hot Wheels and will allow players to take out some of the most iconic vehicles for a spin. However, players who are not familiar with the story of Hot Wheels will find the narrative less sincere and more of a shot at advertising.
Should you play it?
Overall, Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels Expansion is a must-have for fans of both Forza Horizon and Hot Wheels. It has the same thrilling race scene as the first Hot Wheel DLC but with a bigger map and exciting tracks. However, some players will find the strictly linear progression a hassle. Not to mention, their attempt to dive into Hot Wheels’ history is not that engaging.
