An immersive fantasy adventure

Forspoken is an adventure game from Luminous Productions. This demo is a portal fantasy experience that lets you control Frey Holland, a New York City woman mysteriously transported to the world of Athia with a magical bracelet on her wrist. You cast spells and other forms of magic as you fight your way through and find your way home.

Its story and immersion make Forspoken resemble A Plague Tale: Innocence. Meanwhile, its expansive world-building might be great for players of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Its use of a modern female heroine in a medieval setting is exciting and riveting.

Magic and action for all styles

Although the story feels like a fish out of water trope, Forspoken is actually far from it once you start playing. The interaction between her and Cuff, the gold and sentient bracelet, is funny and natural. Meanwhile, it’s great story draws similarities from Moana, the Disney film, with its use of once benevolent female figures corrupted by darkness of some sort.

Visually speaking, the game utilizes the available technology to create stunning graphics. From bright and colorful landscapes to dark and twisted dungeons, there’s a lot of range as far as set design is involved. Of course, more than being visually breathtaking, the environment is also largely interactive. You’ll see Frey jump across canyon gaps, scale walls, and sprint through large landscapes–keeping you busy and entertained for hours.

Lastly, its battle system relies on real-time actions using magic spells. Still, contrary to the long-ranged mage archetype, there’s a lot of spell types you can try and master. From fast and explosive to stealth and sniping types, it lets you create a skillset that will match your gameplay style. However, it’s important to note that this might not be appropriate for younger players due to its gore and mature themes.

Get ready for a new world

A lot of gameplay elements work together to make Forspoken the next adventure property to look out for. It brings its own spin to the large fantasy world market and creates a protagonist that a lot of players will definitely love. The game works to make it realistic by letting you do small stuff like scaling walls and the option to run across fields. It is immersive and challenging, highly recommended.
