Forage – Wild Free Food is an iPhone app that provides a list of the most common wild foods in the UK, along with images and information about each plant’s leaf, flower, and stem identification, habitat, season, uses, and warnings. Developed by Jim Chapple, this app is a must-have for anyone interested in foraging for free food.

One of the app’s most exciting features is its new Search facility, which uses Machine Learning to generate possible results. You can take a photo of a plant you are trying to identify, submit it to the search engine, and see all possible foods it could be. With this feature, you don’t need to carry a foraging guidebook with you anymore. Instead, all you need is your mobile phone, and you can identify any plant you come across with ease. You can also record the locations of the foods found on the Maps to find them again.
