See all the fonts installed on your computer

Want to quickly browse through all the fonts installed on your computer? Font Mate provides a simple interface to do just that. Select the font type then browse through the different characters using your key commands.

An enlarged version of the selected font is shown at the bottom left of the screen. It can be copied to clipboard or printed out on a sheet.

Font Mate doesn’t do anything revolutionary, nothing that Font Book, which come pre-installed on Macs, can’t do.

However, the application does open up very quickly and uses up very much memory. It’s looks nice, it’s simple to use and it doesn’t take any space on your Mac so it will make for a good alternative font reader.

There isn’t much to it: Font Mate shows you a list of all the fonts installed on your computer. Choose any font from the list and it will show you what all the characters in that font look like.

Choose any one of those characters and you will see an enlarged version of it at the bottom of the page (with its ASCII code in decimal and hex, should you be interested).

You can copy any character to the clipboard. You will also see some sample text (a random pangram plus numbers) but you can write your own if you prefer.
