A Skyrim mod to replace standard animation sequences

FNIS PCEA2 is a free mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. This mod enables users to replace standard game animations with custom animations. Unfortunately, it cannot change all animations. Still, you can use several hundred animations to redefine the game and make it feel less repetitive.

This mod is dependent on several other mods that you must install before you can use it, such as SkyUI. Since this is a fan-made mod, the official game developers do not provide support. However, there is a very active modding community that you can look to for help.

Replacing standard animations

An “animation” in a 3D game like Skyrim is best described as a predefined motion, such as a sword swing or walk cycle. FNIS PCEA2 allows players to replace default animations with custom alternatives. However, it can only affect animations that are dedicated to players. The mod includes 537 animations that you can use to replace the game’s standard motions.

Modify animation triggers

Animation triggers are points in animation that signify something, such as when a foot makes contact with the ground in a walk cycle. FNIS PCEA2 allows users to modify animation triggers to suit their custom animations. However, this is not a beginner activity, so prior experience is a requirement.

Mod dependencies

FNIS PCEA2 requires the installation of three other mods to work. These mods are SKSE64, SkyUI, and FNIS SE. The mods will need to be installed before FNIS PCEA2. Once installed, you can select the animation folders from within the MCM Mod Configuration menu in-game.

Not for beginners

While FNIS PCEA2 is a powerful mod for those that know how to use it, it does require more in-depth knowledge than most other mods. As a result, it is ideal for users to make media with the game, such as scripted clips.
