Bend it like Beckham in this fun soccer game
Flick Football is an addictive soccer game in which you’re challenged to score as many free kicks as you can.
As you might guess from the name of the app, taking shots in Flick Football is done by flicking your finger up the screen. You need to aim right so your shot goes past the goalkeeper. At times you will even need to swipe in a curve motion in order to bend the ball around the defensive wall.
There are several different game modes in Flick Football, including Target practice, Vs the clock, Sudden death and The Big game. In the latter of these you are given three lives and lose one every time you miss.
The better the goal is in Flick Football, the more points you will score. You can also accumulate points by hitting the power-ups that appear in the goal at various intervals. Connect to the Game Center and you’ll be able to challenge others by posting your scores.
The overall presentation of Flick Football is a bit of a mixed bag. The in-game graphics are neat and colorful, but the game menus are quite ugly. We also noticed some problems with the responsiveness of the flick controls. Sometimes Flick Football fails to register your flicks and you need to flick two or three times to get the ball to move (tested on an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3).
It’s not an authentic iPhone soccer sim like Pro Evolution Soccer or FIFA, but Flick Football makes for a simple and enjoyable timewaster.
