HD remaster of a classic game
FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE is a premium role-playing game (RPG) from SQUARE Enix. It is the HD remaster of the single-player Final Fantasy XII. Taking place in the large and complex world of Ivalice, where other games in the franchise took place, this game follows a street urchin who becomes involved in a desperate fight to save his occupied homeland.
On top of the classic story retold in stunning new graphics, FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE lets you choose among three soundtracks and access post-game content. Other FF games include Fantasy Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy XIII.
Save Dalmasca in higher resolution
FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE builds upon the features that made its original a well-received classic. For one, battles in this game unfold using the Active Dimension Battle, which is a real-time tactics environment. Additionally, FF XII is known for introducing the gambit system which programs a character to respond to certain conditions automatically. It is made up of a target, an action, and a condition.
As its HD remaster, The Zodiac Age adds a number of new features too. Aside from high-resolution graphics and high-fidelity soundtrack, it also optimizes the game. Expect quicker load times, an added auto-save feature, and the ability to make the game run even faster. However, there are slight hardware concerns that make the game run too fast. Characters can now have two jobs at once, for more gameplay possibilities.
It is important to note that the remastered game comes with higher system requirements, which explains how it can crash for certain setups. There are also instances where the game runs too fast because of hardware incompatibility. Also, new players will also have to struggle at first with the game’s unique combat mechanics, on top of the really challenging progression of its amazing story.
Great for new and returning players
FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE can be a tall order for new players but is definitely a treat to returning ones. FF XII has made its mark by introducing an expansive world, a different combat system, and a signature soundtrack—things retained and improved upon by this high-definition remaster. Upgraded visuals and soundtrack, the same challenging gameplay, and a host of post-game content make it a must-have.
