Become the world’s first SOLDIER
FINAL FANTASY VII: THE FIRST SOLDIER is a free-to-play action mobile video game wherein you can dive into Midgar’s past and fight as one of the first elite agents under Shinra. Developed by SQUARE ENIX Co.,Ltd., this frenetic 3D battle royale shooter offers some role-playing elements as you choose combat styles and weapons to decimate the battlefield.
Considered a prequel to FINAL FANTASY VII, FINAL FANTASY VII: THE FIRST SOLDIER is a spin-off as it doesn’t feature any familiar old characters as its main cast. Instead, you can customize your very own SOLDIER to go up against other players.
Is FF7: The First Soldier free?
Final Fantasy VII is a 1997 role-playing video game developed by Square that gained critical acclaim as one of the greatest games of all time. It follows the story of an ex-SOLDIER named Cloud Strife who joins an eco-terrorist organization to stop his former employers. The game received numerous prequel and sequel media and eventually had a remake in 2020—aptly called Final Fantasy VII Remake.
In line with this remake, the developer expanded more lore into the story by releasing new content. One of these is FINAL FANTASY VII: THE FIRST SOLDIER, a prequel spin-off that tells the tales of the very first members of the SOLDIER unit. Nicknamed “FFVII: THE FIRST SOLDIER,” it features slightly different gameplay compared to most Final Fantasy games as it’s a free online battle royale.
Here, you can fully customize your character with outfits and emotes. You can also choose combat styles like Warrior, Sorcerer, and Ninja. Traditional weapons and even magic can be utilized since you need every arsenal at your disposal in this strategic game. However, take note that this will require 64-bit mobile devices with at least 3GB of RAM—and some devices might still be incompatible despite meeting these requirements.
Your own story begins
All in all, FINAL FANTASY VII: THE FIRST SOLDIER is a great prequel spin-off to get into if you’ve always wanted to play within the world of Final Fantasy VII with your very own character. While the game requires high-end specs to work, the chance to compete against other players using your keen survival senses is hard to pass up.
