File security tool for desktop devices
File Lock is an access control utility made by ThunderSoft for desktop. It’s a file manager tool that aims to help users have more control over the security of their data. With it, they can easily hide personal files and folders so no one will be able to see or open them.
Similar to LockMeBaby and Hider 2, File Lock lets users hide private files to prevent them from being opened, modified, or deleted in any way. They can also set passwords to add another layer of security. It’s a one-time purchase product. A free trial is offered to new users.
How does File Lock work?
File Lock is a compact and lightweight privacy tool used to secure personal files and folders in a computer. You can use this program to prevent anyone from accessing, modifying, copying, or deleting any sensitive data that you have saved. They will be completely invisible and cannot be located even through search. Everything can be managed and be shown again, all from within the program itself and nowhere else.
You’ll be first prompted to set a program password so you’re the only one able to access it and its features. After that, you’ll create a Vault where all of your data will be stored. Once created, click on the “+” button at the bottom to start adding files. A visibility toggle appears to the right of each entry, which you can enable to hide or show your files.
One additional feature available is called Secure Notes, a handy way to save and protect sensitive text data like login credentials or bank account information. Using File Lock is rather easy and straightforward to use. If you’re looking for more options and settings, though, there are no advanced features to be found in this program.
Protect your files from prying eyes
Overall, File Lock will come in handy if you need a simple tool that will help you hide and protect your files from being accessed by others. The UI is clean and simple, it’s intuitive to use, and it works just as advertised. If you don’t mind the lack of any advanced features, it is worth a try.
