Animated The Fallout® 4 Live Wallpaper with bobble heads on your device’s screen!

For the hardcore Fallout fan, the Fallout 4 Live Wallpaper app is a great and free way to liven up your mobile or tablet. The idea is pretty simple, but it’s also something quite uncommon and there really should be more companies making these live wallpapers. Simply put, it gives you a 3D wallpaper which as the name suggests, is live and animated. It’s worth noting however that this app is designed for the SHIELD tablet and only powerful devices can handle all that activity!

Bring the Wasteland with you

The Fallout 4 Live Wallpaper app is a really nice addition to your display, giving you not just a new, cool Fallout wallpaper but also something interactive and interesting to look at. This app was released in celebration of new software that lets NVIDIA SHIELD users cast their Fallout 4 game to their tablet, so it’s no wonder that it’s designed with those specs in mind. Of course, anyone who loves Fallout might want to try the app to show their appreciation of the Wasteland! The wallpaper shows a collection of bobble heads, the iconic collectibles of the Fallout world. All of the bobble heads from the game can be selected and veteran players are sure to have favorites, such as the Speech bobble head who stands proudly orating or the Luck bobble head in his Irish getup. The backdrop is a typical Wasteland workshop, with a Nuka Cola machine and bottle-caps. All very iconic of the series!

How does it work?

This app is very easy to use, but not all that accessible. You will need a high powered phone or tablet to run it on, as it’s designed with the SHIELD gaming specs in mind. In fact, the SHIELD K1 has an additional functionality of dynamic shadows. On slower devices, you will notice considerable lag both on the wallpaper and on general navigation. The wallpaper is accessed by simply installing the app, then navigating to your device’s usual wallpaper section and looking under live wallpapers. You have the option of picking five of your favorite bobble heads or randomizing a selection, though it’s a shame to only have so few. This is undoubtedly a restriction of RAM and screen size, after all, they are rendered in 3D. However, the wallpaper undeniably looks good, with the shaded bobble heads and beautifully drawn background. A selection of backgrounds would have been nice, but there is another pleasing touch in that you can tap bobble heads to make their heads wobble, as nature intended!

A Wastelander’s wallpaper of choice

Provided you have the power to run it, Fallout 4 Live Wallpaper is fun and adds a nice layer of interactivity to your background. When you scroll windows left or right, the scene moves with it as if a camera were panning around. For a big Fallout fan, this is a great companion app, but it’s also a big drain on battery power. Nevertheless, more apps of this kind would be a great thing to see in the future. The app is free to download and has no ads, so it’s worth checking out.
