A different kind of battle royale
Fall Dudes 3D is a free arcade mobile video game that lets you compete to become the last man standing. Developed by PepUp Studios, this wacky physics-based game is reminiscent of classic Japanese game show, Takeshi’s Castle, and offers a battle royale standoff against other characters. This game is in active development with its Early Access and encourages players to help shape the direction of the game by giving feedback.
From game show to gameplay
Fall Dudes 3D is highly similar in concept to Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout by Mediatonic and is pretty much considered the cheaper mobile version of that game. In Fall Guys, there are up to 60 contestants who are all real players. Everyone controls a cute jellybean-like avatar—that you can dress up with costumes purchasable using your in-game earnings. The ultimate goal in the game is to qualify for the next round every time until you’re the last player.
The minigames usually consist of either obstacle races, memory games, or team play—all done in colorful candy-like environments. If you fall off in the races, you’ll respawn at certain checkpoints for as long as there are still spots left for qualified contestants. The number for these will decrease for every round, so while most of the minigames require your skills, some will require lots of luck to even pass—especially in the team games.
Meanwhile, Fall Dudes 3D vastly differs from it. For one, there’s no avatar customization or even a multiplayer mode. This is just a single-player offline game that pits you against normal-named AIs in the rounds. Another difference is that your avatar is distinctly human, and there are only 40 players. There aren’t a lot of available minigames. Most notably, the team-oriented ones from Fall Guys and the only controls you can do are directional movements and jumping.
A free option
All in all, Fall Dudes 3D is a fine enough choice if you’d like to try a Fall Guys-like gameplay on your mobile devices. While it won’t let you play against other real people, the AI is good enough to actually beat you if you’re not careful. However, compared to the other game, it definitely lacks a lot of fun features. This game mostly seems to mimic the other just to provide a mobile version.
