A base-building and automation game

Factory Town — as its name suggests — puts the player in control of a town where they must build a working factory. There will be many tools at the player’s disposal, such as conveyor belts, pipes, and even airships. The aim of the game is to expand the town and unlock better technology.

The premise of the game can perhaps best be seen in action in the popular automation game, Factorio or Satisfactory. Factory Town falls neatly in the middle of those two games in a visual sense, as it uses 3D graphics with a top-down view.

Factory life

The player’s aim in Factory Town is to turn a small town’s natural resources into things they can use and sell, such as food, clothing, and even magical artifacts. Those items can then be traded to neighboring towns for fuel expansion and progression.

Automation

As with other automation-based games, the key to success is unlocking better automation techniques, allowing for the production of higher quantities of items and of better items. Higher-tier items are more complex to make, creating an inherent difficulty progression for the player to overcome.

A visually appealing game that’s a little shallow

Graphics-wise, the game features a visually appealing art style that will appeal to a wide audience, and the game does a good job of explaining things in the beginning. However, as there isn’t enough progression to sustain a long playthrough, some players have reported that things can start to feel repetitive further in.
