Weather from a multitude of sources
EZ Open is a weather application, that brings together 10 weather sources and a calendar in a browser like application. It is designed for people who like to check lots of sources for weather forecasts, but don’t want to open all those web pages manually.
EZ Open brings together MSN and Yahoo Weather, The Weather Channel and 7 more web sources, one which is US only. The interface is simply a window with a row of 11 tabs in it – 10 weather sites and one calendar. The Weather sites are simply online pages as you would see in your browser. The calendar shows you the date, but isn’t interactive – that’s a shame as it would have been cool if EZ Open automatically searched for forecasts for whatever day you picked on the calendar!
As it stands, the calendar is pretty useless by PC and web calender standards. Also, if you’re not based in the US, you’ll need to change all the temperature settings to Celsius in each site. While collating weather from different sources may be a good idea, in EZ Open, it’s badly implemented. You could set your browser to open these sources on start up, and it would be more flexible too. There are no options on EZ Open, so you can’t set new weather sources or remove ones you don’t like.
EZ Open isn’t a terrible idea, but as all it does is bring together web sites, that you could very easily open in a browser, it’s difficult to recommend.
