Escape Simulator: Wild West DLC is a premium downloadable content (DLC) pack that introduces an entirely new experience based on the Wild West. In this add-on for the puzzle game from PINE STUDIO, Escape Simulator, you become an outlaw who wakes up in a jail cell. Imprisoned by the sheriff, you pull off a daring escape and one final heist before retiring in infamy.

As its own experience, Escape Simulator: Wild West DLC features an impressive and small-scale replica of an old Western town, complete with a train car, a bank, and a postal station. Also, check out The Escapists.

Put the wicked Sheriff in his place

Escape Simulator: Wild West DLC has a compelling premise right at the start. You wake up in a dirty jail cell. Scavenge around your cell to escape, and find clues scattered across parts of The American Frontier. After escaping, you prepare at the local Saloon, pull off the heist at the Postal Service and the Bank, and finally make your escape at the Train.

Aside from the coherent theme of this DLC, the set designs are something to be amazed at. The level of detail and the scale makes you feel like this is something doable in real life. It captures the simulated accuracy of themed escape rooms, adding to the immersion without letting you forget that this is a fictional scenario within a puzzle simulation game.

In terms of the DLC design and content, it’s practically flawless. Unfortunately, it suffers from the same issues as its base game. First, it has a fixed learning curve that can be too challenging for casual players or those who aren’t fans of the escape room genre. Additionally, the multiplayer aspect is still wonky, with one of your teammates bound to disconnect at one point.

A fun, must-have add-on

If you’re a fan of Escape Simulator, getting the Escape Simulator: Wild West DLC is a definite must-have. It offers a unique theme that is flawlessly executed, with a story binding all four locations together. Together, it captures the Wild West theme in an intellectually challenging way while also reminiscent of old Western films. The only setbacks in this add-on are the same persisting challenges from the base game.
