Free-to-access digital library
Elejandria is a free-to-use reference library that contains various books and references. As it hosts content that is free from copyright, you can download them on your device for absolutely free and without legal repercussions. Most of its library, however, are old materials—from treatises, and reference materials, to literary works—with only limited modern releases.
The main restriction with the Elejandria app is that its base library comes only in Spanish: book title, author information, and even the interface. It has an English version link below the homepage, that redirects you to an entirely separate library, similar to BorrowBox Library.
Download classics in Spanish
As an online digital library, Elejandria is surprisingly accessible. It doesn’t require any form of payment, subscription, or account registration. As mentioned, most of the books in this app are free to download for your offline reading session. The app supports major file types such as PDF, ePub, and MOBI, letting you read anywhere. It’s worth noting, however, that this app doesn’t come with an ebook reader of its own.
In terms of its catalog, you can choose from over 1,600 books from more than 300 authors. It mostly covers Spanish Literature as well as global classics like Hugo, Shakespeare, and Austen. It even features a short feature on the authors included in its library. The app also sorts its content on common filters such as genre or the type of publication it is.
Lastly, the homepage is in Spanish only. There is an option for an English library at the bottom, but it takes you to a seemingly different app. The Alice & Books section features an entirely different layout. While it has a different visual and content library, you can use it as is or download it separately from the Google Play Store, as a separate app.
A reader’s new best friend
For readers who appreciate the classics and would like to keep them close by, Elejandria and its English extension Alice & Books are definite must-have tools. With these apps, you only need to download the book you need and get it in a format that works for your device. To better enjoy the file types available, you might want to check out third-party ebook reading apps.
