Gothic visual novel

Ebon Light is a dark fantasy visual novel by Underbliss. The game will have you go on an adventure in the fictional gothic town of Caleare. In this town, war is constant, and peace is merely a miracle. Dusken elves revel in war and conquest after living in hiding for many years. Fueled by vengeful passion, they painstakingly shapen their teeth for battle. However, while they may invoke terror, they, too, are terrified by something in the war-torn town. In the game, you will take on the role of Edric, a citizen of Caleare, who holds a secret that will plunge you to the center of the war. 

Well-thought-out visual novel

Despite the name, Ebon Light comes with a dark story. In the game, you live a simple and safe life, even though you live in Caleare. However, while you live far from the rage of others, you still hear stories of the Lalarin Empire devouring villages, of werewolves in Manoska being hunted to extinction, and of the pale Gha’alia elves who have gone missing. You think of these as mere tales meant to serve as a warning. If only you listened. 

However, when a Gha’alian elf discovers your secrets, you find yourself in the middle of the hostile and unstable town. You will then need to make crucial decisions to survive. When many others would prefer to keep their secrets hidden, you must decide to persevere, stay clever and charismatic even while you are being hunted down.  

Ebon Light is a game where you gain allies, enemies, and even lovers. The game provides players with hundreds of choices, from deciding the main character’s appearance to his personality and fate. However, while the game does not punish you for bad choices, at least in the romantic sense, your poor choices can lead to your character’s death. Overall, the game offers a fantastic worldbuilding experience. The world of Ebon Light is fully developed with a diverse range of races, species, challenges, and mysteries to choose from.
