Get rid of annoying duplicate files
Duplicates – ugh! Clogging up your iPod, confusing your media player and generally messing up your computer, they are a major pain in the neck. Easy Duplicate Finder is a tool to get rid of them, freeing up space and cutting down on confusion.
The Easy Duplicate Finder looks a little complicated, but that is down to the interface, rather than a complex program. You chose the folder that you want analyzed and press start. Easy Duplicate Finder scans the files and finds any duplicates, presenting you with a list of suspicious items in the bottom half of the screen. Once it has finished, there are a number of options you can chose – renaming the duplicates, moving them to a specific folder, or just deleting them, the hardest option to undo.
Easy Duplicate Finder doesn’t offer many configuration options, but it does allow some filters to be applied to the searches. You can specify certain file types (MP3, JPG, etc.), ignore zero-size files or specify minimum/maximum file sizes. There are also two file comparison modes – byte-by-byte or CRC32 Checksum.
Easy Duplicate Finder is probably not the most user-friendly duplicate finder out there, but it’s not too complicated and does provide rapid, accurate results.
Easy Duplicate Finder finds duplicates based on content, not name, making it very accurate.
