A user-friendly free recovery program
EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Free is a free data recovery software that enables you to easily retrieve lost files. This program offers an all-in-one solution for various loss situations—whether it’s by accidental deletion or drive corruption. It can recover different types of files, as well, and is easy to use with its three-step process. This data recovery program has three editions available: the free version and two Pro versions.
Simple to use
EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard can handle different kinds of situations wherein you lost data. The five most common of these are deletion, partition failure, erasure via formatting, corruption of external device, and unexpected system crashes. Whichever situation it is, this software can recover a range of over 1,000 file types—such as documents, graphics, videos, audio, emails, archives, and applications, among others. It has great photo recovery capabilities, as well, with its ability to repair damaged JPEG images and MP4 and MOV videos.
There are three simple steps to using this application: select, scan, and recover. Upon launching, you can select a location that you want the scan to focus on. You can choose the whole C drive or a specific location, like Dekstop, Recycle Bin, or a folder. The app has an advanced scan algorithm, offering two modes of scanning. There is the Quick Scan, which is shorter and will simply find traces of the missing data. Meanwhile, Deep Scan provides an in-depth look at your system.
Once the scan is complete, it will display a left-side pane with folders inside the chosen location. You can then browse the items the program found that can be recovered. If you’re looking for something specific, there’s the search function to save time. You can also use the Filter and Tag features. Found next to the View function and the search bar, this advanced file filter can display specific file types, the range of dates modified, file sizes, and the initials of the name for more accurate results.
Control your files
If the scanning is taking too long, you can pause it and then resume later. This free recovery software also allows importing and exporting of scans. You can save your current scan session if you have to close the application, so you can avoid rescanning when you come back. Afterward, simply load these sessions via the Scan Session button on the top-right corner next to the drop-down Main Menu. On the other hand, you can start recovering any file that shows up in the results during the scan.
On top of it, the app allows you to preview the scan results. There are two ways to do this: you can double-click on a file or open the Preview Pane by selecting it from the View button. The preview will usually display a thumbnail of the item. If it can’t, it will list down common reasons as to why—and you will have to recover the item to check if it’s actually intact. It’s recommended to save on a different drive to avoid losing the file again.
The free version can recover up to 2GB worth of data and the two offered premium versions can go past that and add more features to your license. Data Recovery Wizard Pro can recover an unlimited amount and provides you free access to EaseUS tech support. Meanwhile, Data Recovery Wizard Technician further adds the ability to use a bootable USB in case of system failure. Both have free trials, but Technician is meant for businesses and can cover multiple PCs with one license.
At no cost
Overall, EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Free offers an affordable way to retrieve lost data. It covers different file types lost to common system problems or accidents and provides an easy-to-use interface for you to start processing your search. It could still use additional helpful functions, however—such as automatically disallowing you from saving a recovered file on the same drive it was lost on to safely avoid data corruption. Nonetheless, this software is recommended for those looking for a cheap but versatile data recovery solution.
