Dragon Age Redesigned – Making a Companion Npcs More Enjoyable to Use in Dragon Age: Origins
Dragon Age Redesigned, like all of the fan made for Dragon Age games, is designed to make the most of the new features of the Origins game. This modus operandi is so common among fan made games that people wonder why there aren’t more people making games for this series. A couple of things the game’s mods for Dragon Age: Origins do well be adding new dialogue options and game modes, they re-balance the difficulty, and they introduce some brand new items, weapons, and armor. The modding community is active and creative, and they always seem to be coming up with new ways to make the game more fun.
Dragon Age Redesigned started out as just a single mod, but it quickly grew into a multi-faceted program that would change Dragon Age: Origins for the better. If you aren’t familiar with the mod, it was created by two guys who really wanted to see if Dragon Age: Origins had the potential to be as exciting and well integrated with the fans as they saw it being. In the interest of full disclosure, they weren’t actually responsible for the content in Dragon Age: Origins, but they sure made a lot of good improvements to the game. Some of the changes they made to the game were fairly large, and the positive reaction from the players was overwhelming.
One of the most interesting things that the companion mods for Dragon age redesigned did was remove some of the annoying companions in the beginning of the game. The companions in Dragon age: Origins had a tendency to cause way too much trouble in general. The problem with them is that they can’t be killed, so their role in the endgame is usually only to bring certain items or help you kill something. They also tend to spawn all over the map, which makes it hard to fight off an invasion of hundreds of little troublemakers. Fortunately, one of the new companions, the Dragoons, are much better at dealing with these problems and fortunately, Dragon Age: Origins also features a number of new Dragoons that aren’t just mindless killing machines, but can actually be used as useful allies throughout the game.
