Live a dog’s life in this simulator
DogLife is a free simulation game developed by Candywriter, LLC. This free game will have you play as a dog and make decisions to guide its destiny. By choosing the animal’s actions, you can shape its behavior throughout the different stages of its life.
There are dozens of dog breeds that you can play as in DogLife. Moreover, you can also choose to play as a house pet, a mutt at the shelter, or a purebred puppy at the pet store. Despite its title, you can also play a cat. However, since this is free, expect ads, even when playing offline.
How do you play DogLife?
In DogLife, you begin by finding the breed of the dog whose life you will be managing. There are different breeds available in the game, including Labradors, retrievers, French bulldogs, German shepherds, and poodles. Right from the first few days, you will have to make decisions that determine the dog’s behavior. You will even decide to follow an owner or live day to day on the streets.
The gameplay is typical of text adventure titles. Making decisions only entails choosing action on the different screens that pop up on the app’s interface. Gradually, months will pass, and you can follow your completed stages on the main menu. However, during some of the challenges, there will be some mini-games that you will have to complete if you wish your character to stay alive.
However, despite the dogs having different life stages, the game sadly lacks variety. There are not many activities to do. The mini-games are also a bit boring and do not boost any of your skills enough to make it worth playing. There is an in-game purchase called TopDog that allows you to personalize your animal. However, the personalization options are rather limited. Still, purchasing it will give you an advantage.
Should you play it?
DogLife offers a unique premise that would appeal to dog lovers. It lets you experience the day-to-day life of a dog. However, there is not much to do in the game more than make multiple decisions. Sure, there are mini-games in between the main campaign, but they are also quite boring. It also does not help that the game is full of bugs and comes with incessant advertisements.
