Distance rendering mod for Minecraft
Distant Horizons: Minecraft Mod is a game utility application developed by Curseforge. As the tin says, this is a mod for Minecraft. It works to extend the horizon of the world beyond the default rendering distance of the sandbox game.
Like OptiFine, Distant Horizons bump up the render distance of your map. However, unlike the former, it does not affect the game’s performance. Even better, it supports player-created structures. However, it does not work with shaders. Additionally, while it works with multiplayer, it is only on the client-side. You will have to explore chunks for the mod to use them.
What does Distance Horizon offer?
By default, vanilla Minecraft has a rendering distance that you can adjust. However, you can only bump it up to somewhere around 32. Moreover, it depends on the graphical capabilities of your computer. With this, you are limited by your device’s hardware. There is a mod called OptiFine that lets you double this number but it does so at the expense of the game’s performance.
Distant Horizons aims to expand your horizon. Like OptiFine, it adds LODs to Minecraft, allowing you to bump the render distance to an astonishing number. However, unlike OptiFine, it does not tank the performance of the game. Even better, it does so without eating up your resources. It even works with less powerful computers. Players will also be happy to know that it works with player-created structures.
However, note that there is still a decrease in quality in further details. However, it is not noticeable unless you zoom in on any part of the map. Players should also note that the mod is still under development. It lacks some features, including compatibility with shaders. As was previously mentioned, while it supports multiplayer, it is only on the client-side.
Expand your horizon
With Distant Horizons: Minecraft Mod, players can go a little further in terms of visualization of your Minecraft world. The mod increases the rendering distance of your terrain, allowing you to see more of the world around you. Even better, it uses fewer resources in doing so. Moreover, there is not much decrease in the graphics quality. However, note that the mod does not work with shaders.
