A new photo-sharing app
Dispo is a mobile application founded by YouTuber and social media personality David Dobrik. Previously known as David’s Disposable, this program lets you capture moments and share them online. However, everything is not as easy as clicking the capture and share buttons. The app works as a disposable camera, meaning you will wait for the picture to develop the next day. Moreover, the social platform where you can post your photographs is invite-only.
How the app works
Dispo is a photo-sharing app that has been around for more than a year. However, it has only been a subject of discussion recently as more and more people are taking a break from Instagram. The app works as both a camera and social media app, allowing you to capture moments and share them with your followers. As noted, there are a few things to the app that you don’t often see on your popular social platforms.
Like David’s Disposable, Dispo is essentially a camera app that produces retro-looking photos. The photographs it captures are raw and authentic-looking, unlike the filtered and edited pictures that you are accustomed to seeing on social media sites, such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. However, as mentioned, the app works like a disposable camera, meaning it takes a while to develop your picture. In this case, you can receive your shots at 9 AM the next morning.
As noted, Dispo’s social media platform is invite-only. You cannot sign-up and start using it unless someone with a profile sends you an invite. Furthermore, users must know that there are no photo editing tools available in the app. There are no filter options, and there is no way to add captions to photos. Also, Dispo does not allow users to upload anything into the app. You can only share the photos you took using its camera function.
Still not ripe
With Dispo, you can get the functions of two apps in one. It comes with a camera that allows you to take raw and real-looking photographs, which you can then upload to the app’s built-in social platform. However, as it is, the app has a lot more to improve on to become a viable option. It lacks the functions that other apps offer. Meanwhile, as it is an invite-only platform, with a relatively small community.
