An action-adventure Disney game
Disney’s Bolt is an action-adventure game in which the player takes on the role of Bolt, a canine character from a popular Disney movie. The game follows a different storyline than the film on which it is based, providing new content for fans of the film without spoiling the story for players who haven’t seen it.
Bolt continues a tradition of Disney-released movie tie-in games, such as Toy Story 3: The Video Game and Cars 2, and has received generally positive feedback from players of the game.
Action, adventure and 3D platforming
Bolt puts the player in control of the eponymous central character — a dog name Bolt — in a fictional world of spies and villains. The player must control Bolt, making use of his many special abilities along the way to fight villains and progress through the level. The gameplay style is similar to most 3D platformer-style games, such as Spyro the Dragon or Mario 64.
A new story to experience
The Bolt movie tells the tale of a dog that stars in a TV show and gets lost in the real world. The game tells a different story; that of the character in the TV show. Rather than replay the plot of the movie, they experience an entirely new story set within the fictional TV show that Bolt stars in. There are also mini-games featuring some of the other characters, such as Rhino, the hamster.
A well-received but short movie tie-in
Disney’s Bolt has a generally positive response from players, something that movie tie-in games often don’t get. That being said, it is a particularly short game, with some players reporting only around 4 hours of gameplay. Of course, the way the game is played can affect how long it takes to complete.
