Explore the world of Disney in this life-sim game

Disney Dreamlight Valley is a simulation game developed by Gameloft. In this game, players can explore the rich, magical world of Disney. Additionally, they can also go on an adventure alongside their favorite Disney and Pixar characters.

Unlike other Disney games, Disney Dreamlight Valley is more like a life sim created for adult fans. It has missions reminiscent of Animal Crossing, which will see you doing tasks such as decorating your home or engaging in mini-games. However, the design will remind players of the game Kingdom Hearts with its map overrun with nasty-looking vines you need to dispel.

What is Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Disney Dreamlight Valley plays like an adult’s ultimate isekai dream. In the game, your character is pulled into a world fractured by a mysterious event called The Forgetting. It is up to you to repair the world and create a place for everyone. To do so, you will have to team up with your favorite character. Each character you encounter will have a story.

However, to befriend them, you will travel to their world and solve the puzzles associated with them. You also have to gain their trust by completing tasks. However, note that instead of fighting to complete your goals, you will be charged with non-combat tasks. Some of these activities involved fishing with Goofy, gardening with Wall-E, or cooking with Remy. The more you do these tasks, the more reward you gain.

In addition to puzzles, you will craft things similar to Minecraft. Though, whatever you cannot make, you can purchase. The decoration is also not limited as you can design how your character looks. You can even build the perfect neighborhood with a fully customizable layout, creative landscaping, and thousands of decorative items. However, for a game of this scope, you will need a high-performing device to experience smooth gaming.

The DreamSnaps update

Disney Dreamlight Valley’s new DreamSnaps update brings a new Villager into the game: the feisty little racer from Wreck-It Ralph, Vanellope von Schweetz. With her character, you will go through a series of quests and collect bits of new power called Pixel Dust. Once you collect enough of these little blue dots, you can then unlock DreamSnaps, a weekly event in which you have to decorate your house or dress your character up according to what theme is dropped.

Event descriptions and Furniture and Clothing filters will help you pick out the best decisions for your DreamSnaps entries. Furthermore, voting will be done each week, allowing you to vote for your favorite entries from other players. Besides those major updates, minor quality-of-life updates are also implemented, based on user-reported feedback. One of these is the reduction of energy drain caused by hovering, which is now down by 80%.

Is the game good?

Overall, Disney Dreamlight Valley offers a seductive charm that can entice even non-Disney fans. While it is a Disney-based game, it offers a different story and a different world. It also has tons of engaging activities that feature various Disney and Pixar characters, both old and new. However, some may find the lack of fighting a bit boring. Not to mention, it comes with a high device requirement.
