The long awaited sequel is looking great
Diablo III is an action-packed role-playing game set in the dark fantasy world of Sanctuary. The plot revolves around Humanity where it is threatened by the armies from Hell once again, and it is up to you and up to three other heroes to save the world.
With Diablo III, Blizzard, the game developer, has made something that will please fans and newcomers alike. Fans of the game series will be right at home from the start, with familiar controls and gameplay, while it is an extremely easy game to get into too.
What’s new with Diablo III?
Diablo III has continuously gone through a ton of updates, with some features made available during its launch being removed after the succeeding updates. Some of these features include the Auction House, where players can bid and buyout items using real-world currency, which garnered controversy when it was released.
Meanwhile, the following are some of the features that have been added to the game over the past couple of updates:
- Adventure mode or PvP, which is now the most popular playing mode.
- Crusader and necromancer classes.
- Kanai’s Cube.
- Various types of goblins.
- Monster Levels.
- Enchanting.
Atmospheric
Diablo III’s graphical style is what you would expect from Blizzard, with well-defined cartoon-like graphics that are full of detail. It’s very atmospheric, and the environment looks great, with some nice touches like crows flying up out of trees as you pass. Diablo III does a great job of evoking a dark fantasy land without being so dark you can’t see properly. The menus are all well-designed and each of the five-player classes looks really good.
Gameplay
Once you’ve created your Diablo III Hero, from the usual character classes, you are dropped right into New Tristram, a town that has just suffered a meteor strike that has resulted in the dead rising and attacking. This sets you up on a mission to find Deckhard Cain, who is trapped in the Cathedral. The action role-playing gameplay is really compelling, and developing your hero’s powers and abilities, as you get experience, is satisfying.
One common criticism of Diablo’s hack-and-slash gameplay is that it is a mouse click-a-thon. That has not changed, and you’ll either love it or loathe it.
Multiplayer
You can make your Diablo III game public, which means other players online will be able to drop into your game and join in with your quest. It’s easy to do, and playing in teams feels natural when you’re facing hordes of hell beasts! There’s also the player versus player mode.
Back with a stronger plot
Diablo III, unlike its predecessors, comes with a stronger and more solid plot line. Although it does come with a couple of cliched dialogue and scenes, they still contribute to helping gameplay become much more enjoyable. The cutscenes feature immersive voice acting and spectacular graphics that provide you with a glimpse of the game’s hack-and-slash universe.
Addicting gameplay
Diablo III has undergone numerous updates, including the removal of controversial features such as the Auction House. While some were removed, new features are also being added, including Adventure Mode and new character classes. It has a well-defined graphical style that evokes a dark fantasy land, and the gameplay is compelling, with the hack-and-slash mechanics still intact. This specific title has a stronger plot compared to its predecessors, with immersive voice acting and spectacular graphics in the cutscenes.
