Sleek Adobe AIR desktop client for Twitter
Since I created my Twitter account more than a year ago I’ve been trying different desktop clients that allow me to post new tweets and follow those of my contacts without having to load the Twitter website all the time. DestroyTwitter is one of them.
Despite its funny name, DestroyTwitter is actually an eye-catching AIR-based application that helps you keep track of your Twitter contacts, as well as publish your own updates, all from a sleek, dark interface.
This interface is divided into several categories – tabs – to separate the main timeline from other types of messages: replies, favorites (known as “Saved” in DestroyTwitter) and direct messages (referred to as just “Messages” here). I especially liked the animation effects between the different tabs.
As for functionality, DestroyTwitter provides you with a friendly and comfortable environment from which you can easily manage your Twitter account. The program’s configuration options enable you to minimize it to the System Tray – so that it stays out of sight when not needed – though this tray icon could have been made more useful with a proper context menu. The only thing I missed in DestroyTwitter was having a way to update tweets on demand – or have the program do it according to a user-defined period of time.
DestroyTwitter is a visually appealing AIR-based desktop app that helps you send tweets and keep track of your Twitter contacts in an easy way.
