Classic modern military FPS

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Official is a first-person shooter released in 2003. The game follows a group of American soldiers during a peacekeeping operation in the Somali civil war alongside a separate multiplayer format.

Early days

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Official is the 6th game in the series, following on in the realistic military first-person style of the series. The single-player tells the story of four American soldiers engaged in battle throughout Somali, with the player controlling the other three through commands. A little different from other Delta Force titles, the game features more close combats and set pieces with a fairly linear plot. Action is tight and tense but never really becomes as gripping as similar titles like COD or Medal of Honour. Graphics are naturally dated but the soundtrack is atmospheric and the gun play is tight and responsive. Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Official multiplayer was a huge draw at the time, with up to 50 players at once but sadly now feels constricted.

Old dogs

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Official is a typical example of a modern military FPS from the time. While it is fairly outdated now, the single player campaign is worth a play thanks to the challenge on offer and a tense soundtrack.
