Conversion mod for Day of Infamy
Day of Infamy: Screaming Steel: 1914-1918 Mod is a total conversion project developed by modders for the popular action game, Day of Infamy. Previously known as WWI: Source, this game utility software utilizes a fantastic build of the Source engine to provide players a convincing and compelling historical shooter game. This modification uses the gameplay from the vanilla game but with the twist of the equipment and tactics used during World War I.
How to install the mod?
As noted, Day of Infamy: Screaming Steel: 1914-1918 Mod is set during the World War I. It focuses on the Western Front of the war, wherein the Commonwealth Army is fighting against the Imperial German Army. Several scenarios of the game are based on real battles fought during the war, from the first engagements between the British and German troops to the trench battle in northern France. Everything in the game—classes, weapons, equipment, and fire support abilities—is also derived from its real-life counterparts to give players historically authentic gameplay.
To play the mod, you need to own Day of Infamy. Then you need to download all the required files and you are good to go. Once in-game, you can head to the multiplayer or cooperative menus and click on the Browse Servers button. From there, you should see the Screaming Steel in the list of servers that you can choose. Aside from the co-op and online multiplayer modes, the mod is also playable offline. You only need to use the Practice Mode found in the game’s main menu. You can also enable the bots.
Day of Infamy: Screaming Steel: 1914-1918 Mod is still in progress, so players are sure to encounter unfinished assets and bugs. The initial load time can also take ages. However, other than these drawbacks, this modification performs well and offers interesting settings compared with the vanilla game.
