A free mod to randomize items in Dark Souls Original
The Dark Souls Item Randomizer mod allows you to randomize item placement in the original Dark Souls game. It also lets you scale randomization to make the game more or less fair to suit your gameplay.
This expansion mod can also work with Dark Souls Remastered, and the installation process is similar to the newer mods for Dark Souls 3. Unfortunately, it does not work on the console game version, so the item randomizer mod is only installable on PCs.
Will Dark Souls mods break my game?
Always save a backup, and be prepared to uninstall or redownload the mod. However, this mod shouldn’t pose any problems. As long as it doesn’t damage saved files, your game will be fine.
How does Dark Souls Item Randomizer work?
The modder took location tabs and randomized them but kept key items in place or secured in a safe area. Developers use a similar method when creating New Game Plus varieties of games.
Do I need a modding platform?
You don’t need third-party modding tools or a platform. However, this mod does require a direct file install, which some players find off-putting.
Trending in the Souls-Borne modding community
This mod has become part of a booming trend and is very popular within the Souls-Borne modding community. Repeated play-throughs of Souls-Borne games are now a staple for gamers, and Dark Souls Item Randomizer will help make future play-throughs much more interesting.
Game-breaking isn’t mandatory
Completely randomizing Dark Souls items means things like keys are sometimes locked behind doors. However, this mod keeps game-breaking items in safe areas unless you opt for completely randomized runs.
