Immersive action puzzle game for PC

Cubic Mile is a free action game for PCs made by indie developer Ghost Meets Cat. It mixes elements of puzzle-solving mechanics with fast-paced bullet hell-style action shooter gameplay. It requires fast-thinking and even faster reaction times for players to clear each of its uniquely designed and immersive levels.

Cubic Mile invokes the same feel as Holey Hell, wherein speed and precision are paramount to progress further. Apart from its challenging gameplay, though, the other aspect that stands out the most is its level designs, which range from retro to immersive 3D landscapes as players progress from room to room.

How is Cubic Mile played?

Cubic Mile takes place in the eponymous Cubic Mile, a new technology that allows you to upload your consciousness to a public stream. Every aspect of your mind, from your fears to your fantasies, and even your imagination will be live-broadcasted for everyone to see. Before this can be done, though, your mind needs to be compressed to cubic form, which can only be done from within the Cubic Mile itself.

Once inside, you’ll be able to explore your consciousness as represented by a vast cube world. Beware of Splinters, parts of yourself that your mind has rejected and has become hostile and resentful over time. You’ll navigate various rooms with their own unique designs and enemies that you need to defeat to clear your mind of negative thoughts. You’ll meet fellow cubes that will help you unravel a deeper narrative.

Clear out each of the rooms’ puzzles with a spin action that can be used to attack enemies or block projectiles. However, you can only do it 3 times so plan your moves carefully. Cubic Mile supports both keyboard and controller for input, but recommend the latter for better gameplay. Just be aware some levels feature bright lights and flashes which may induce seizures in some.

An audiovisual trip

Cubic Mile is a game that is difficult to explain, but that sense of enigma is part of its charm. Its narrative is intriguing, its level design is distinct and elaborate, and its gameplay is fast-paced and challenging. It is one of those titles that you should play to really understand what it’s all about. Needless to say, it is highly recommended.
