CTAS – Official Version: The App for Emergency Departments

CTAS – Official Version is an iPhone application developed by Pacific Rim Nursing Consultants Inc. under the license of the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS). It is an educational reference tool intended for use by nurses and physicians in emergency departments (ED) to prioritize patient care requirements, examine patient care processes, workload, and resource requirements relative to case mix and community needs.

The application is available in English or French, depending on the language set on your device. All the lists and modifier definitions are within the application, so no data connection is required. The proceeds from the sale of this app support future development of the CTAS and its educational materials.

The CTAS – Official Version application is an essential tool for triage nurses and physicians to assign acuity levels using complaint-oriented triage lists and modifiers. It enables them to triage patients according to the type and severity of their presenting signs and symptoms. The CTAS criteria are mandatory data elements to be used in all Canadian Hospital Emergency Departments for reporting to the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI).
