Survival horror game
Crying is not Enough is a third-person adventure game developed by Storyline Team. It is a survival horror game that challenges players to solve various puzzles and progress by unfolding a mystery. Of course, you will have to do so while fighting off enemies.
Crying is not Enough is a game released back in 2018 and has gone silent from launch till 2019 due to various issues. This is a remastered version, bringing improvements to the core game code. However, despite this, pressing issues remain. The game still has slow pacing and lackluster gameplay. You can download the demo version.
What is Crying is not Enough?
In this game, you play as 35-year-old Jacob Helten, a man searching for his wife, Claire. After a series of bizarre dreams, he met a creepy old woman in a hospital, claiming to be Claire’s mom, who told him that Claire had been kidnapped. Jacob finds himself transported to an island via helicopter. Before he arrives, however, the helicopter explodes, and he ends up on an island infested with monsters.
This is where the game begins. You will have to fight the entities to survive, all the while you solve the mystery of the island. Of course, there is still the missing Claire, who is also somewhere on the island. However, while the game has a heavy Silent Hill vibe, it isn’t actually that scary or challenging. The puzzles, tone, and story are also a bit incoherent.
Players will also find the game a little slow-paced as the first half is dedicated to cutscenes and dialogues. Thankfully, the remastered version has a skip option. The graphics are also nothing to speak of, as the default setting is ugly. Motion blur, depth of field, and chromatic aberration are enabled by default, making the cutscenes go in and out of focus. Moreover, the characters are hard to look at.
Still need more improvement
Crying is not Enough makes a comeback with this remastered version. Sadly, the improvements made are still not enough to fix what’s lacking in the game. The story pacing is still atrocious, made worse by the bad voice acting. None of the puzzles are fun to play, and there are unnecessary elements. Moreover, the characters are hard to look at, and the graphic settings make the game look hideous.
