Complete one golf course a day
Created by US-based developer Shallot Games, Coffee Golf is a free sports game where you participate in a daily game of golf. Here, you must shoot a golf ball into the five holes, which are all marked with flags of various colors.
Your score is determined by the total number of strokes you made for each flag. The fewer your strokes, the better. If you’re proud of your skills in Coffee Golf, you can copy your score and see your current ranking, so you have something to show off to your friends. The app includes tutorials, too.
Play in short bursts
In Coffee Golf, you can use any of the three clubs, namely D, W, and P—each one serving a different purpose. The D and W golf sticks are for long and medium distances, respectively. Unlike the P stick—which excels in short-distance strikes on flat ground—both the D and W clubs can launch a ball on higher ground. The game’s controls, though, are simple.
After selecting a golf club, tap and hold the screen until a straight or arching white line appears onscreen. However, the latter only shows up when using the D and W sticks. Then, drag your finger to aim at any direction, and let go of the screen to strike the ball towards the targeted area—bringing you closer to one of the five holes scattered around the area.
While you can repeat a completed course for free on your first day, watching a video ad or paying for unlimited replays is a must for succeeding replays. If you want to play on a different gold course, you have to wait until the next day. Hence, this game appeals more to casual, time-strapped players rather than hardcore gamers who want to play for a few hours.
Not meant to be played for hours
Overall, Coffee Golf doesn’t require much time investment. Once you’ve completed a golf course, you can just exit the game and do other activities. The courses are time-locked, so you can’t play in another area until the following day. Thankfully, you get one free replay on your first day—which is a nice bonus. That being said, this app appeals to gamers with little free time.
