Video Conferencing On Mobile Platforms
Cisco Proximity is a productivity application created by Cisco. The application allows collaboration and connecting with Cisco endpoints through mobile devices.
Mobile Connectivity
Cisco Proximity is a mobile platform for connecting with an existing Cisco video collaboration endpoint. It enables controlling of video systems, manages contents from Cisco endpoints that are physically bound in a room and share contents wirelessly. This is ideal for engaging with collaboration projects through a mobile device. This application is used for live video conferences which are also applicable to modern schools and offices. Lecturers can distribute their materials with ease since almost everybody owns a mobile device. The application performs automatic pairing with the opened Cisco endpoint once the mobile device is in close proximity. It utilizes an “ultrasound” feature to find which mobile devices are open for pairing. The application is able to view contents that are shared on the Cisco endpoints. Viewing contents from a Cisco endpoint to a mobile device optimizes the viewing space for anyone participating in the collaborative project. This application can share contents from the Cisco endpoint. Users can gather PowerPoint slides, review documents and save important contents while the presenter still reports. Cisco Proximity retains the functionality of a mobile device while integrating Cisco endpoint. Users can initiate or receive calls, at the same time search for the directory or enter video URL in the application. The application is compatible with Cisco endpoints, specifically SX10, SX20, SX80, MX200 G2, MX300 G2, MX700, and MX800. Each version of Cisco endpoints allows a certain amount of simultaneous connections. For example, Cisco SX80 can host up to 10 simultaneous connections. It also allows the Collaboration Endpoint Software 8.0 to run along with the application.
Security Beforehand For Endpoints
The application comes with security features to prevent information breach. It renews the secret access token every 30 seconds. The token serves as access credentials for mobile devices and users have to send the token to the local Cisco endpoint over HTTPs so that the connection is maintained. Closing the main Cisco endpoint terminates the connection for mobile devices. The application negates brute force attacks from outside sources. It sends two incorrect tokens as bait. Intruders will get their mobile devices will get a 10 minute IP address ban. 10 IP address bans automatically trigger halting of the Cisco endpoint service for 10 minutes. The Cisco endpoint reports if a “drive-by pairing” happens as an unwanted individual pair up with the open endpoint to compromise information. Users can remove authentication for that mobile device, wait for the deployment of in scale until the implementation of end-user control is done.
Mobile Video Conference
Cisco Proximity is designed to accommodate video conferences and reporting across mobile devices. It utilizes the availability of mobile devices so that personals would be able to see everything shared for them at the convenience of their mobile device.
