Build your biggest canvas
Canvas Run is a free arcade game developed by Voodoo. In this casual game, you control a ball and earn more balls like you, creating a wide carpet that carries a color gradient — your very own canvas. With its bright colors and simple, addictive gameplay, this game is a good way to pass the time without getting pressured to achieve game objectives.
Canvas Run is thematically similar to a host of games employing the simple runner template. This includes Iron Suit: Superhero Simulator or Cube Surfer, the latter also developed by Voodoo.
A run-of-the-mill game
The biggest challenge with Canvas Run is that it’s one of countless similar games, some of them from Voodoo. This is notable from the stage design of only a straightforward ledge with gates and gaps, but otherwise a straight platform over the sky or the sea. Additionally, its gameplay premise of collecting items and consuming them to get through obstacles offers nothing new for players.
As a casual game, this game is easy to play. The requirements and obstacles do not scale with level, making it a good way to pass the time but comes across as boring for players looking for a challenge. If you’re looking for a game that doesn’t require that much skill or thinking, this game might be worth your time.
Lastly, while there are collectible gems in the game, you can’t use them to buy anything. This creates an impression that the game was released as an incomplete product. Also, while you can build a long, colorful canvas, there are no other items to earn by playing–no other color schemes, no other objects to use aside from the original balls you have from the beginning.
Needs more features
Canvas Run is a promising casual game, with good graphics to keep players engaged and entertained. However, there’s a lot of factors stacked against making it a playable game. It feels like a templated work, with its similar apps in the market. The game has features in-game that are not usable in any way and there’s basically nothing to grind for. There are other better versions of this game premise.
