A clicker game about spending money
Billionaire’s Dilemma is a free game released under a “name your own price” model. It closely matches the clicker game genre, where the player has to run around while performing very simple actions (clicking a button, in this case) to succeed. Unlike many clicker games, there is no automation to unlock — for example, Clicker Heroes.
However, this game is unconventional for its genre because rather than clicking to earn something, the player must click to spend their money. The challenge lies in spending the money before it buries the player alive.
A simple premise
Billionaire’s Dilemma aims to give the player a sense of how much money a hundred billion dollars is. As the game starts, money begins flooding into the room. The player must attempt to spend the money fast enough so that they do not get buried by it. If the player allows too much money to rest on the floor, the player will be buried by it, and then the game is over.
Buying things
The game world is filled with computers, where the player can buy things, with each computer having something different to purchase. Each item has a different value and cooldown attached, meaning the player has to wait a little time before clicking again. The items range from $500 to upwards of $100,000,000.
Simple gameplay
The game features incredibly simple controls, requiring the player only to move around the game world and click on things to buy. It should make it easy for players of any skill level to play. However, it is very difficult to avoid losing the game, which could be offputting for some and likely hurts replayability, but this may have been the developer’s intent.
