A challenging puzzle platformer about a frog
BallFrog is a puzzle platformer in which the player controls spherical frogs — a ball frog, if you will — and must navigate a series of levels by rolling around and using the frog’s tongue to swing from platforms. The game makes use of physics in the movement, allowing the player to judge how to proceed.
This game falls into a particular genre of frustratingly difficult physics-based puzzle games that includes offerings like Eggy and Getting Over It with Bennet Foddy. Players must time their movements to land in the right place or grab the right object to get to the next part of the level.
Help Ball Frog find the flies
The protagonist, Ball Frog, has enjoyed a life of leisure, lounging around and eating flies with his friends. That is until the flies started disappearing. It turns out the Fly God was unhappy with all the fly-eating, so he captured all of the frogs, except for Ball Frog. So now it’s up to him to find his way to the Fly God and save his froggy friends.
Control a bloated frog
Like many games of this type, the controls are relatively simple in terms of what needs to be pressed to perform certain actions. However, while the controls are simple, the skill needed to successfully use those controls are much more difficult to master. In addition to rolling around, the frog can use its tongue to swing between platforms.
A fun but short puzzle game
For players who enjoy a challenge, BallFrog is a puzzle game that should give them something to strive for. It can also be played as an online co-op game, making it suitable to play with friends. However, it may be too difficult for less-skilled players to enjoy.
