Post-apocalyptic turn-based RPG
ATOM RPG Trudograd is a premium role-playing game from developer AtomTeam. It is a sci-fi-themed RPG that is set in a post-apocalyptic world and features tactical turn-based combat. It’s the sequel to the first ATOM RPG game and continues where the story left off surrounding the aftermath of the nuclear holocaust.
Compared to its predecessor, ATOM RPG: Post-apocalyptic indie game, ATOM RPG Trudograd comes with upgraded visuals and a whole new world to explore. New and returning players can expect a much more expansive campaign mode, with plenty of characters to meet, locations to visit, and mutated abominations to face.
Nuclear holocaust
In the first ATOM RPG, you were a rookie agent who stumbled on a dangerous threat to what’s left of the nuclear holocaust. In ATOM RPG Trudograd, you’re on a new mission to set out for a post-apocalyptic metropolis that withstood nuclear obliteration and is the last-standing haven of humanity. Figure out how it survived, and find a way to do the same for the impending doom.
There’s a lot of ground to cover in this game, with more than 45 new locations to visit, over 300 characters to meet and interact with, and some 200-odd quests to take on throughout your journey. Arm yourself with the game’s three unique exoskeleton suits with unique attributes, and 100-plus weaponry that you can customize to suit your playstyle and deal with all types of enemies.
Combat is turn-based with the same highly customizable stats and skill set for creating unique character builds. Compare it to the first game, and things start to fall short. First, it has game-balancing issues that will overwhelm a lot of players. Another is that while there are plenty of things to do, they mostly feel the same and can get dull and repetitive after a while.
A decent effort
ATOM RPG Trudograd is a decent follow-up that retains much of the same engaging combat and character flexibility. However, the new quests can feel like filler at times, and the new map is far from the expansive experience the first offered. Nevertheless, if you’re a fan, you will still find plenty of other things to like about it, so give it a try.
