Automatically backup your photos to your Amazon Cloud Drive
Amazon Photos (formerly known as Amazon Cloud Drive Photos) is a file management application that helps you send your photos to your Amazon Cloud Drive. It seems like just about every company out there has their own cloud service and ecosystem. It’s no surprise that Amazon Cloud Drive Photos is an attempt to lock you into their own cloud ecosystem by making it easy for you to upload individual photos or entire albums. The application is very simple and there aren’t many options to adjust. There are two tabs in Amazon Cloud Drive Photos to view photos that are located in your Cloud Drive or on your device. You can select individual photos or entire albums to be uploaded.Using Amazon Cloud Drive Photos is a bit of a pain. To select photos, tap and hold or open the photo, hit menu, and then select upload. The better solution is for a bulk item selection like in Android’s stock Gallery app. While it’s nice that Amazon Cloud Drive Photos is basic and simple, it is frustrating that the app only uploads photos. Amazon Cloud Drive Photos is extremely limited when compared to Dropbox, which uploads every photo you take immediately and can also upload any file. With Amazon Cloud Drive Photos, you have to manually select photos as there’s no automated mode. Even Google+ does this, making Amazon Cloud Drive Photos a tough sell.Amazon Cloud Drive Photos is a logical step for Amazon to tighten its ecosystem but the app ultimately falls flat on its face as competitors work better.
