Stream your music collection from the web
Airband is an app that allows you to stream your music collection from the web service MP3tunes.
To use Airband, you need to have already uploaded music files to an MP3tunes account, but once you have it’s a very simple app to use. The interface and organization of your music collection is simple, and just as easy to navigate around as iOS’s iPod app. It’s a little slower because tracklists, art and music all have to be loaded from the web.
Whether on WIFI or 3G, Airband works reasonably quickly, though it’s not quite up to Spotify’s standards. If you want to speed things up or lower your bandwidth usage, you can choose a lower streaming quality in the Settings menu.
Airband is nicely designed, user friendly and attractive. Unfortunately, it’s a little unstable and prone to crashing. It also won’t stream in the background on iOS4, meaning you can’t multi-task while listening to your tunes.
Airband is a promising music streaming app, let down by stability issues and lacking multitasking support.
