Audio and video conversion with plenty of format options
There are so many media converters on the market these days that new programs have to be really something to make their mark. Will Aimersoft Media Converter have what it takes to impress us?
Well, first impressions do count and Aimersoft Media Converter starts off pretty well. The interface is simple and attractive, with a large preview window. There is a main area where you add the files to be converted and drop-down menus below where you can choose the audio and video formats you want to convert to. Pressing the large start button will begin the process, but bear in mind that there’s no pause.
One of Aimersoft Media Converter’s main attractions is the range of formats it imports and exports. It also has very complete configuration options, especially with regard to settings for each individual format. Aimersoft Media Converter also has a few nice extra touches, such as auto-update and the ability to shut down the computer when it has finished converting, perfect for batch operations. It also removes DRM restrictions from media.
Unfortunately, there were also a few aspects to Aimersoft Media Converter that I wasn’t so impressed with. The one-minute limitation in the trial version is a real pain, and doesn’t give prospective users a chance to see if the program works properly. In addition, any files in the source file list will be converted when you press Start – it doesn’t matter if they are not highlighted or have already been converted.
Aimersoft Media Converter has a few issues, but is redeemed by good format options.
