A dark fantasy and survival RTS game
Age of Darkness: Final Stand is a real-time strategy (RTS) game where the player must defend humanity’s last bastion against hordes of nightmares. Light plays an important part in the game, with the world consumed by a deadly fog. The aim of the game is to build defenses to hold back enemies.
The main thrust of the gameplay centers around the building of defenses to keep hordes of enemies at bay. In that respect, the game shares a lot in common with other popular favorites, like Kingdoms and Castles and even Factorio.
Stay in the light
The world of Age of Darkness: Final Stand is one where the world has fallen into darkness, and in that darkness, hordes of nightmare creatures attack. The player must marshall their defenses to keep their settlement safe when the nightmares come after the lights go out.
Real-time strategy gameplay
The core mechanics of this game are essentially a tower defense game, but there are many other game aspects built on top of this, such as elements or RPG, base-building, and survival. The player will deal with hordes of “foot soldier” style enemies, with occasional bosses thrown into the mix to add difficulty and variety to the game.
Impressive but perhaps oversold
Age of Darkness: Final Stand features some impressive visuals when the horde is in full swing, but it is not without its flaws. For example, many players have commented that the RPG aspect of the game is oversold, so players looking for RPG gameplay may not find what they’re looking for here. Still, the game provides a solid horde defense experience.
